Subud in Suriname will be 40 years on 2007. A diplomat from Indonesia was instrumental in bringing Subud to Suriname in 1967, where 2 years later Bapak made his first visit. With 500,000 inhabitants, Suriname has 60 active Subud members, a wonderful and committed national committee, representatives of SD, SYA and SICA and the support of an equally dedicated dewan of helpers. Subud Suriname is ready to start participating and working as a new member of Zone7 (formalized in Innsbruck at the Subud World Congress 2005).

Subud Suriname has 3 groups: Acaribo, Lelydorp and Paramaribo. Paramaribo and Acaribo have a subud house, Lelydorp has a group or 15 members with the real intention to have a subud house, they are looking for a land to be paid by the membership and will look for MSF support once they have all the information.
